What Marcelo Bielsa said about his future in the aftermath of crushing Derby County defeat

Leeds United's season is over and the inquest will soon be underway.

The manner of Derby County's 4-3 aggregate was a crushing blow to the club's staff, players and fans, as a season that promised so much ended so brutally, with Leeds seeing yet another play-off campaign end in defeat.

With Leeds seeing this second bite of the promotion cherry slip by, the inquest will shortly get under way.

And when it does, one question will dominate all others. Will Marcelo Bielsa remain at the club?

The matter has been debated plenty of times over the past few weeks, with Andrea Radrizzani among those debating the issue last week.

Leeds hold an option for next season, which the Whites chairman said the club plan to take up.

And naturally, the issue came up during the Argentine's post-match press conference.

"It’s not, as you can imagine, convenient to talk about this point right now," said Bielsa.

Casilla, the fans, a lack of control and his future - every word from Marcelo Bielsa's press conference

"Anyway, the process, and you know about this process, that’s why I’m talking about it, if the club offers me the possibility to carry on I will listen to this proposal."

That was a typically modest response from the Leeds head coach, following a campaign which has re-energised and re-engaged the club's fans. Expect to hear plenty more on the issue in the coming days and weeks.
