What Manuel Lanzini wants to achieve ahead of the 2019/20 season after making West Ham comeback

It may be some time before West Ham fans see Manuel Lanzini back to his very best after only making his return recently.

A key player for the club following his move to east London in 2015, the 26-year-old was denied a place in Argentina's squad for last year's World Cup after rupturing his ACL in a pre-tournament training camp.

Lanzini finally returned to action for the Hammers in February with a late cameo in the 3-1 victory over Fulham, before playing the entire second half in their next game against Man City.

The midfielder has in fact started in his last five appearances for the team but he has struggled to make a real impact for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

In fact, the manager stated that it could take the player a few more months before he returns to the top of his game.

West Ham face five more games before the season is out but the talented player is hoping to get a few more games under his belt ahead of next season with the Copa America taking place in Brazil from June.

"I’m happy to be able to play more minutes and play entire matches," he told West Ham's official website. "I’m feeling good and my knee is feeling right, which is the most important thing.

"Obviously, I’m still finding my rhythm but I feel alright, and I hope to stay that way."

"My dream is to play in the Copa America," he added. "It would feel like payback for me after I missed out on the World Cup.

"I’ll keep working hard this season with West Ham, and hopefully it will be possible for me to be there."

The Manuel Lanzini conundrum - is midfielder a help or a hindrance to West Ham?
