What Manchester United players did at half time vs West Ham

Manchester United's players knew what they had to do to turn around a shocking first-half performance at West Ham United, according to second-half hero Marcus Rashford.

The forward came off the bench at the break, along with Bruno Fernandes, to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 victory, a fifth successive away win in the Premier League when United have gone behind.

But Rashford said the turnaround wasn't inspired by a half-time rollicking from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and that the players already knew where things were going wrong at the London Stadium.

“Sometimes it’s not about what he [Solskjaer] says it’s about what we can see on the pitch," Rashford told Sky Sports.

"It was clear in the first half we didn’t get behind them enough, we played some decent football but nothing really threatening to the back line and the goalkeeper.

“We knew what we needed to do in the second half. It was just a case of going out there and doing it."

United levelled through Pogba on the hour mark before goals from Mason Greenwood and Rashford secured another comeback victory.

But for the fifth away game this season United fell behind and Rashford knows they can't afford to continue that habit.

“We need to stop doing that, if we keep more clean sheets we’ll win more games. It’s good we showed spirit to come back when we concede a goal," he said. “Sometimes that's all it takes (playing well for 30 minutes), we defended quite well, they have some dangerous players, you could see on the counter-attack.

“At half-time it’s an opportunity to regroup and come out for the second half with a new focus, that’s what we did."

Rashford believes the win was crucial in getting the midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain out of the system, especially with a crucial trip to RB Leipzig coming this week.

“It’s a big game. After you lose a game like we did in the Champions League it’s important to win the next game which we did today," he said. “We can look forward to that game now and hopefully go there and win."
