Less than half an hour after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had questioned how much some of his Manchester United players cared after their embarrassment at Everton, Scott McTominay showed he could be absolved of that accusation.
As the United players filed through the mixed zone at the end of the 4-0 defeat at Goodison Park Ashley Young did a Sky Sports interview and then spoke to MUTV, but none of the other players stopped.
While many walked by without saying a word McTominay looked apologetic as he passed when he was asked for a quick chat about the game.
Wearing a pained expression that gave away just how much that defeat had hurt him personally, the academy graduate said: "No, I just can't", before continuing to the team coach.
McTominay was a half-time substitute at Goodison Park and went over to the away end after the defeat to apologise to United's travelling fans.
When Solskjaer did his post-match media duties he questioned the commitment of some of his players.
Asked if they cared enough, he said: "I've asked them, you're not going get the answer from me. But of course if you want to play at this club it has to mean more.
"I've said this as well, I want them to be the hardest-working team in the league, that's what we were under Sir Alex, that's what we were, what we've always been. Giggsy, Becks, Gary Neville, Denis Irwin, whoever you were.
"The talent you've got, you run more than everyone every single week, a shift up and down that pitch for your teammates and we have to stick together as a team."
