What Manchester United fans did for Fred after Crystal Palace win

Manchester United fans showed their appreciation for Fred after Sunday's win over Crystal Palace.

Ralf Rangnick took charge of his first game as interim manager at the weekend and the German got off to the perfect start.

The Rangnick era began with three points thanks to Fred's second-half goal and the Reds also kept a clean sheet - that was the first home clean sheet United have recorded at home since April - to move up to sixth in the Premier League table.

Fred worked relentlessly in the centre of the pitch and his strong performance was rounded off by his brilliantly swept goal.

The Brazilian was a polarising figure under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but it seems he's turned a corner in recent weeks in public opinion.

Fred gave away his shirt after the game, but he also received huge applause from the United fans still inside Old Trafford when he reemerged from the dressing room to fulfil his post-match media duties well after the full-time whistle had gone.

Then 'Fred will tear you apart again' rang around an otherwise empty stadium.

Rangnick's philosophy places an emphasis on pressing and that means Fred could be a guaranteed starter under the interim boss.
