Manchester City starlet Phil Foden has reacted to earning his first Premier League start for the club.
Foden has been named in the starting line-up to face Cardiff City at the Etihad Stadium as the Blues hope to jump back above Liverpool and move top of the Premier League.
The 18-year-old has featured 15 times over the last two seasons for Man City but has not graced Pep Guardiola’s startling line-up until now.
But despite the pressure of a title run-in, Guardiola has put faith in the midfielder and Foden admits he wants to reward his manager’s decision.
“I just want to help the lads and play with a smile on my face. I’ve been waiting for this moment,” Foden told Sky Sports.
“I found out just before the game earlier today. I couldn’t believe it but now I just want to show him (Pep Guardiola) what I can do.

“I need to play the football I always have and keep it simple. My family are all here. I text my mum and told her and she passed the message on.
“I just want the lads to win. It’d be nice (to score) but I’m not thinking about that.”
