What Man City staff members have told Manchester United legend Gary Nevile about Phil Foden

Gary Neville has revealed what Manchester City staff members have been saying about Phil Foden.

Pep Guardiola gave the 18-year-old only his second Premier League start against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.

And Neville believes that the City boss was under growing pressure to give the youngster his chance.

"To play him in his first game or his second Premier League start in such an important game there comes a point where Pep Guardiola thinks here it is," he told Sky Sports.

When is the PFA Player of the Year award announced and who is on the shortlist

"This is the moment I have to get him into the side.

"The sort of feedback I have been getting in the last weeks is that there is a feeling in the club that if they don't get this kid in there might all stop having an Academy.

Guardiola has told Foden to play his natural game against Spurs in what is the biggest game of his career so far.

The Man City boss said: "What he is, no more than that. What he has done every time he plays and in training. Nothing special, he can do whatever he wants."
