What Man City player Phil Foden told Jack Grealish after England win over Denmark

Phil Foden has revealed he turned to Jack Grealish to express his shock after the final whistle against Denmark, as England qualified for their first ever major tournament since 1966.

In the aftermath of the game as England celebrated their success, Foden shared a wholesome embrace with Manchester City transfer target and England teammate Jack Grealish that went viral on social media.

Speaking to England's official podcast, Foden recalled what he told Grealish during the emotional moment after the 2-1 win.

“I just said to him I can’t believe we’ve made it to the final and it was nice to share that moment with him, he’s such a special player,” he said.

“It just shows the togetherness the group has.”

Foden and Grealish have both enjoyed bright spells during the tournament and were influential in helping the Three Lions find a winner and break down a resilient Danish side on Tuesday evening.

Grealish has also been heavily linked with a move to City this summer, with Pep Guardiola likely to be encouraged by his close bond with Foden, which could help facilitate a move — even though it could be tough to prise Grealish away from Aston Villa.

Whether either of them will start the final against Italy remains to be seen.
