What Man City fans sang after Nicolas Otamendi's goal against Southampton in Carabao Cup

Manchester City fans sang "we want ten" after Nicolas Otamendi opened the scoring against Southampton in the Carabao Cup.

The Saints were on the receiving end of record-breaking 9-0 defeat to Leicester last time out in the Premier League prior to their clash against the Citizens.

City have a record of large score lines in the League Cup, beating Burton Albion 9-0 at home last year, but fans want Pep Guardiola's men to go one better against their Premier League opposition.

The City manager named a much changed side, handing a debut to youngster Tommy Doyle, as well as fielding both Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero in attack.

However, it was Otamendi who opened the scoring, heading past Alex McCarthy after a smartly worked short corner.

His goal prompted a pocket of the Etihad crowd to chant "we want ten" after the deadlock was broken.

Southampton fans responded with their own chants, singing "we've got the ball" in response to City's dominance, registering 80 per cent possession in the first-half.

Sergio Aguero netted City's second goal before the break meaning it would take a massive second-half performance to give the fans what they want.
