What Lucas Torreira did after training with the Arsenal squad ahead of Everton trip

Lucas Torreira used his enforced absence from the Arsenal team to pay a visit to his former club on Saturday evening.

The midfielder will miss this afternoon's Premier League clash against Everton as he's serving the third and final game of his suspension after being shown a straight red card in the north London derby last month.

As the Gunners are away from home, there's no requirement for Torreira to make the trip to Merseyside and cheer on his teammates.

He was in training over the weekend, but he was soon jetting out of England for a brief getaway to fill the void that has been created by not being able to help his side in their push for a top four finish.

Torreira was in attendance at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris as his former club Sampdoria hosted AS Roma in an important Serie A clash.

However, the midfielder wasn't able to serve as a lucky charm as ‎I Blucerchiati were beaten 1-0 thanks to a 75th minute winner from Daniele De Rossi and now trail their opponents by six points in the table.

Although it did seem like many were delighted to see Torreira back for the first time since his move to the Emirates Stadium last summer.

The 23-year-old could be back in Italy later this month.

Arsenal have been drawn against Napoli in the Europa League quarter-final and the second leg takes place at the Stadio San Paolo on March 18, which is three days after Torreira could return to the Premier League starting XI against Watford.
