Liverpool moved another step closer to winning the Premier League title after beating AFC Bournemouth 2-1 at Anfield to extend their league at the top of the table to 25 points on Saturday.
Second-place Manchester City, the only team that could mathematically catch the Reds, then lost to Manchester United on Sunday 2-0 meaning Jurgen Klopp's side moved their hands even closer to the trophy.
That result means Liverpool now need a maximum of six points to end their 30-year wait to be crowned English champions.
Klopp's men are next in league action on March 16 when they travel to Everton, with City hosting Arsenal in midweek to make up their one game in hand before they face Burnley next weekend.
Liverpool have now amassed 82 points after 29 games while City have played 28 matches and sit on 57 points.
The maximum number of points City can now achieve is 87 - provided they win all 10 of their remaining matches.
Third-placed Leicester City can no longer catch the Reds with their highest possible points total being 80 with 10 games left to go.
Klopp's side now have nine games left in their season, and Liverpool could achieve a maximum of 109 points by the end of the campaign.
However, they know that 88 points is the magic number to win the title at this point in the campaign.
Therefore, the European and world champions only need to win two of their remaining nine games to win the Premier League, no matter what any other side in the top-flight does.
The Reds' second game from this point is against Crystal Palace, while the third match in the sequence is against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their first game after the March international break on April 5.
However, should City drop points in both their next two fixtures, Liverpool will win the title without kicking another ball.
Meanwhile, if City only lose one more against either Arsenal or Burnley, a chance for the Reds to claim league victory would come forward to a clash with Everton at Goodison Park on March 16.
