What Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said about Christian Pulisic ahead of Chelsea clash

Jurgen Klopp has hailed Christian Pulisic as a "really good signing" for Chelsea as the Liverpool boss prepares his side to face the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

The Premier League leaders visit west London this weekend looking to continue their 100 per cent start to the new season, having won each of their five matches in the top flight so far this campaign.

Liverpool did lose out 2-0 against Italian side Napoli in midweek in the Champions League, while Chelsea also tasted defeat in Europe, losing 1-0 at home against Valencia.

But ahead of the game at Stamford Bridge, Klopp has warned his players to expect a tough game against the Blues, with the Liverpool boss full of praise for Frank Lampard and his side.

And Klopp has singled out Chelsea's USA international for praise, with the German knowing about the 21-year-old from his time at Borussia Dortmund, having joined the Bundesliga side in 2015 when the now-Liverpool boss was in charge.

Premier League 2019/20 - the top teams so far this season

"He is a proper player, young, dynamic. Great with both feet. A really good signing for them," Klopp said, speaking at his pre-match press conference about Pulisic.

“He is a super exciting player - a good signing."

Pulisic has played five times for Chelsea in all competitions so far this season, with the USA international featuring against Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup last month.

Meanwhile, Klopp said that he sees some similarities between Chelsea and his old team at Dortmund, with the Liverpool boss full of praise for how the Blues have dealt with the transfer ban, which prevented them from registering new players this summer.

"Chelsea had some problems but they have sorted it well. I don't think they expected [to lose to Valencia]," said Klopp.

"It reminds me of my team in Dortmund a few years ago. Really young but they only played cause they were that good. [Christian] Pulisic, [N'Golo] Kante, Jorginho.

"If there is one club in the world who a transfer ban didn't hit that bad then I would say it was Chelsea because of their policy of the last few years. They had players on loan who have come back. Tammy Abraham knows how to score. They have all my respect. A top contender."
