What Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp did when Andy Robertson had a Steven Gerrard moment vs Chelsea

Liverpool are back on top of the Premier League.

The Reds safely negotiated what looked to be their toughest game of the run-in on paper by beating Chelsea 2-0 at Anfield.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, in the space of three second half minutes, secured the three points for the Reds, condemning the Blues to their first Premier League defeat in four games.

Liverpool may yet go on to win the Premier League title, but they will have at least banished the memory of that 2014 missed opportunity by beating Chelsea.

Why Chelsea players were wearing black armbands during the game vs Liverpool

Back in 2014 there was the infamous Steven Gerrard slip - the Liverpool legend slipping in a centre-back position and allowing Demba Ba to run through and score the first goal in what turned out to be a 2-0 win for Chelsea.

Manchester City then went on to win the Premier League title by two points, with many saying that Gerrard moment was the key.

And there was a similar incident during today's game at Anfield.

At 2-0 up, left-back Andy Robertson had the ball on the left-hand side before slipping to the ground. Substitute Gonzalo Higuain claimed the loose ball and tore towards goal, but he could not take advantage of the situation and the chance was gone.

It had minor echoes of five years ago, but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp saw the funny side.

Arsenal, Spurs and Man United handed top four boost as Chelsea suffer huge injury scare

According to Sky Sports journalist Geoff Shreeves, who was sat on the touchline by the two dugouts, Klopp turned around with a smile on his face.

Had Higuain scored, he may not have had such a smile on his face.
