What Level 0 means for Rangers and Celtic as Nicola Sturgeon announcement spells promising fan progress

Celtic and Rangers have been given a massive fan boost after a Scottish Government announcement.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told Holyrood on Tuesday afternoon that despite a rise in Covid cases the link between cases and hospitalisations/deaths has been broken by the vaccine campaign.

And for that reason the whole of Scotland will be put in Level 0 of the Covid restrictions framework from next Monday – one day before Ange Postecoglou's side take on FC Midtjylland at home in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier.

Sturgeon's Government made a number of modifications to the Level 0 framework – but changes for outdoor stadia and events remain safe.

It means 2,000 people are allowed at outdoor seated live events including football matches, with more possible if clubs make a special request to local authorities and the Scottish Government.

The Scottish Government's website states: "Guidance is being produced which may allow higher capacities to be agreed with the local authority/ Scottish Government depending on the event."

The country is also still on track for removing the vast majority of restrictions by August 9 as planned.

And the hope is that August date will lead to full stadia just weeks into the Scottish Premiership season and a mouthwatering title battle.
