What Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has said about Unai Emery and Arsenal

Arsenal travel to take on Brendan Rodgers' Leicester City on Sunday afternoon, and the Foxes manager is expecting a "tough game" against Unai Emery's men.

The Gunners have lost their last two league games against Crystal Palace and Wolves, and will be looking to avoid a third straight league defeat when they play at the King Power Stadium.

Despite the recent dip in form that has left Arsenal in fifth place, one point adrift of the top four, Rodgers has been impressed with the work that Emery has done in his first season in charge.

"I’ve been really impressed. Unai has given them a bit more structure," he said in his pre match press conference.

"They’ve been flexible in their systems and have played different systems, but the style is always the same.”

"They still have done a great job in the Europa League. Sometimes fatigue sets in at this time of the season. but they’ve got quality players. Big clubs always look to fight back and we’re expecting a tough game, but we’re excited about it.”

“They are a top side and focused on doing well. When the opposition think there is a vulnerability then the top teams respond. We are preparing for a very difficult game.”

An injury time equaliser saw Leicester draw with West Ham at the London Stadium in their last Premier League game. Rodgers says that he is happy with the character his team are showing, and the development that they are making.

“[The draw vs West Ham] showed everything about the mentality that we have." The 46-year-old continued.

"We want to develop into a team that are more imposing in the game, but that comes with training. But the players are showing everyday that they’re making those steps.”

The Foxes have also received positive news regarding any potential injuries, with long-term absentee Daniel Amartey the only missing player.

"None at all. Everyone’s training and working well. Nothing new (on the injury front)," were the managers comments when asked about any new injury concerns.

The last meeting between the two clubs came in October, when Arsenal came from behind to claim a 3-1 win.
