What Leeds United man Eddie Nketiah has said about hat-trick, missed penalty and England aims

Leeds United's Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah has further enhanced his reputation after a fine performance for England under-21s and it's safe to say he's delighted.

The 20-year-old joined the Whites this summer after leaving Arsenal on loan, with the talented striker gaining rave reviews from former Arsenal star Ian Wright ahead of and following the transfer switch.

He has showed flashes of his talent for Leeds, scoring two goals in the Championship in seven matches so far, but the big issue has been game-time.

Nketiah has not started any of those seven Championship appearances under Marcelo Bielsa but that didn't stop the striker shining on Tuesday evening at Stadium MK.

England under-21s romped to a 5-1 victory in their Euro under-21s qualifier against Austria thanks to a hat-trick from Nketiah and Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi's brace.

Nketiah spoke after the game and was quick to revel in his achievements and offer up an England aim - though he did add his disappointment at failing to add a fourth goal in the second half due to a missed penalty.

"It was a big three points. Austria were top and we knew we had to come here and perform to get the win," he told BT Sport. "The boys did excellent tonight.

"I usually put penalties away but the keeper made a good save. I could have put it a bit lower.

"I swivelled for the first one and wasn't quite sure I got enough on it to be credited to me but I am delighted with the hat-trick and to keep the matchball. Hopefully there will be many more for England."
