Illan Meslier will be thrust into the limelight on Saturday, when he replaces the suspended Kiko Casilla in goal for Leeds United.
The FA delivered their verdict on the Kiko Casilla case which has rumbled on since the end of September on Friday evening, when they issued a guilty verdict and eight-match ban to the Spaniard.
Meslier, who turns 20 next week, has been happy to play second fiddle to the former Real Madrid man all season, with his solitary performance in the Leeds first team coming against Arsenal in the FA Cup last month.
But the Lorient loanee, who is currently at Elland Road on a year-long deal, spoke earlier in the season about how much he has learned from Casilla, who he sees as a strong mentor.
"I am learning a lot from Kiko, who is 33, has been at Real Madrid [and won] three Champions Leagues," he told Goal during the November international break.
"He is an experienced goalkeeper. Mentally, he is impressive. He knows what to do in a lot of situations and I am truly taking in everything he gives me.
"I am rising in stature in this new club, with new staff around me and I am ready to play at any moment if there is a suspension or an injury.
"It will be up to me to take the opportunities and after that, the coach will decide."
Further asked whether he found the transition to becoming an effective bench-warmer at United after starting for Lorient, he added: "No. For me, actually, I have more time to work as the second choice.
"You can develop yourself, refine certain details. It is a bit like the stage immediately after the youth academy and I feel like I am improving week after week.
"The number one is Kiko, and I respect him."
