What Jurgen Klopp told Bruno Fernandes after Liverpool draw with Sporting Lisbon

Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Bruno Fernandes after Liverpool's pre-season draw with Sporting Lisbon.

Portugal midfielder Fernandes is a Manchester United transfer target this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his midfield.

Fernandes is keen to make the move to the Premier League and showcased his talent against Liverpool this week as he scored one and made another for Sporting.

Klopp was spotted speaking to Fernandes at full-time and reports in Portugal claim he lavished praise on the 24-year-old.

"Good game. You’ve been good. Congratulations for the great game. You’re a top player," Klopp is reported as saying by O Jogo.

Klopp was also asked about Fernandes after the game and was full of praise for his opponent.

"If he [joins Manchester United] then we will face him. He’s obviously a really good player.

"They have already a few really good players, so that will probably make them stronger.

"It’s not nice, but United’s transfer dealings are] not our cup of tea, to be honest."

Reports this weekend have suggested Fernandes is set to undergo a medical at Old Trafford after an agreement was reached with Sporting.

However, Mirror Sport understands United have NOT made moves for the Portuguese international.

United chiefs believe clubs are using their need to strengthen to drive up interest in their players and subsequently raise their asking price.

Solskjaer is keen on striking deals for Harry Maguire and Sean Longstaff before the transfer window ends and could make a move for another attacking player if Romelu Lukaku secures his switch to Inter Milan.
