What Jurgen Klopp told Adrian after Liverpool keeper's howler vs Southampton

Jurgen Klopp joked with Adrian after his howler against Southampton - by telling him he had "finally arrived" at Liverpool .

The Spaniard has experienced a whirlwind few days since his arrival on a free transfer, being thrust into the No.1 spot after a calf injury suffered by Alisson.

After being their Super Cup hero in midweek, he almost went to zero as he gifted the Saints a route back into their game at St Mary's on Saturday.

Fortunately, his misplaced ball out from the back, finished by Danny Ings, did not cost the Reds as they held on for a 2-1 win.

Manager Jurgen Klopp claimed he had "no problem" with the error given the result.

And he revealed he told Adrian it must be a "goalie thing at Liverpool" having been reminded of a similar error by Alisson last season against Leicester early in his Reds career.

“I said ‘you’ve finally arrived!’," Klopp said.

"Ali did the same, it’s obviously a goalie thing at Liverpool.

"He made a mistake, no problem with that as long as we win the games.”

Klopp was also keen to pass some of the blame on his defender for putting Adrian, struggling with an ankle injury suffered in a freak collision with a pitch invader in Istanbul, in a difficult situation.

"Adrian had a swollen ankle, so we played too many balls back to him," he said.

"I was happy with everything he did today, all the saves, all that stuff. The other players have to feel more the responsibility for the build up.

"You can’t give all the balls back to him and hope the painkillers are working."
