What Jurgen Klopp said in Liverpool dressing room that sparked Barcelona comeback

Liverpool were played off the park by Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

Lionel Messi lead the charge against Jurgen Klopp's Reds and netted twice as Barcelona ran out 3-0 winners at the Nou Camp.

The writing appeared to be on the wall for Liverpool from that moment, with everyone expecting Barcelona to see the job out in the second leg and progress to the final in Madrid.

Klopp entered the changing room in Barcelona after the match and opted against tearing into his players.

He instead addressed them calmly and instructed his squad to believe they could still come out on top.

Revealing what Klopp said to the Liverpool team, Andy Robertson told The Players' Tribune: "It hadn't been easy to feel like that in the minutes after Messi had worked his magic in the first leg.

"At that stage, we felt flat, which was probably unavoidable. Although we were in Barcelona, Madrid couldn't have felt further away.

"Then the manager came into the dressing room, bouncing and wearing his trademark massive smile.

"'Boys, boys, boys!' he says, 'We are not the best team in the world. Now you know that. Maybe they are! Who cares? Who cares! We can still beat the best team in the world. Let's go again.'"

Liverpool opened the scoring early on in the second leg at Anfield and continued to take to the game to Barcelona.

When the final whistle sounded after 90 minutes the Reds were 4-0 up, 4-3 on aggregate, and remarkably on their way to Madrid for the final.
