What Jurgen Klopp said about Liverpool's transfer plans should concern Spurs, Chelsea & Arsenal

Liverpool cam oh so close to ending their long wait for the Premier League title last season.

The Reds were imperious for much of the season, amassing an astonishing 97 points across the campaign, but ultimately falling short of the title, won by Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, who finished on 98 points.

It was an extraordinary title race, and one many are predicting to see again in 2019/20.

The rest of the big six have quite the task on their hands to get close to those two teams, and that task could be made even more difficult depending on the signings those two clubs make this summer.

And if Jurgen Klopp's comments on the transfer window are anything to go by, Liverpool only intend to get better for the coming season.

Klopp strengthened in two key areas last summer, bringing in goalkeeper Alisson and centre-back Virgil van Dijk for a combined
£144.9million.

And they played an integral part in the Reds' success last season.

Klopp wants to spend more money this summer, to try and overhaul City at the top of the table.

In an interview with German broadcaster  ZDF  , which was recorded last month but has only just come to light among English-speaking fans following a translation by  Tom Weber  , Klopp has opened up on the money that he wants to spend.

And it's a major warning to the other teams trying to make it into the top four, and even challenge for the title next season.

As reported by our friends at the Liverpool Echo , Klopp said: "Back when I was in Germany, Bayern had a 'bottomless pit of money', like £100million.

"In today's market, that gets you one centre back. So this bottomless pit of money is enough to buy one player in today's world and that doesn't even cover their wages!

"Liverpool is an ambitious club and if we didn't spend the same amount of money as others, we wouldn't be able to compete. Everybody's splashing the cash, so we have to do the same."

The Reds preparing to splash the cash again...while Chelsea have a transfer ban and Arsenal have a limited £45million budget.
