What Jurgen Klopp has said about Liverpool's summer transfer business

Liverpool's summer transfer window could look a lot different to last year.

The Reds brought in Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri, Alisson Becker and Naby Keita to the tune of around £170m last year as Jurgen Klopp took his side from finishing in the top four to become title contenders.

It is unlikely that Liverpool will spend such eye-watering amounts this window, with Klopp happy with the players at his disposal.

And the Reds boss admitted as much in his press conference before Liverpool won 2-1 at Fulham in March.

Asked about Liverpool's plans for the summer, Klopp explained that he didn't expect a huge spend this time around.

Instead, he is keen to work with and develop his current crop of players.

He said: "For sure there's no need for that level (of spending).

"I don’t want to talk exactly what we will do, but I don't think this is a team at the moment where we have to spend the big money or whatever.

Liverpool could bank around £100m from player sales this summer

"The best way to do it is bring together a group of players, try to develop them altogether and then stay together for a while.

"That was maybe the main problem of Liverpool for the last decade. When they had a good team after a season they went all over the world. That will not happen this year for sure."
