What Jurgen Klopp did in dressing room at half-time as three Liverpool situations highlighted

Jurgen Klopp was pleased to see a much-improved performance from his Liverpool side against Brentford after making a ‘really bad’ admission about their midweek draw with Arsenal.

The Reds struggled to create chances against the 10-man Gunners on Thursday night as they were held to a 0-0 draw, with their only shot on target coming in second half stoppage-time.

However, goals from Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Takumi Minamino saw Liverpool run out 3-0 winners on Brentford on Sunday.

And Klopp has shared a little insight on his half-time team talks as he revealed what he did in the dressing room at the interval when speaking to his players and what pleased him most about their improved display.

“The way Brentford plays against us is really uncomfortable,” he told reporters. “As a team, at home, if you want to win the game you have to control the game and to control this game is particularly difficult because it felt like the ball was 20 minutes in the air today.

“In so many situations it was header header header header so you need to be full of desire in these moments to sort it, have to bring the ball down and play and that is really tricky. That’s why I’m so happy.

“I knew before it would be really a tough one and it was a tough one. That is why I am so happy we did well in other moments.

“We showed the boys at half-time three situations where we did really well in the first half. We had more but we showed them three where we really played the way we have to have to play.

“On top of that we scored a goal from set-piece which is absolutely helpful because the set-pieces against Arsenal were really bad and today they were really good. We should keep that, it would be very helpful!

“A spell in the second half where they took a bit more risk, we needed too long to adapt to it but when we adapted we controlled the game again then scored really nice goals and I’m really happy about it.”
