What Jose Mourinho told Tottenham Hotspur about Manchester United squad

Jose Mourinho told Tottenham Hotspur's players they were better than the squad he had at Manchester United, it has been revealed.

Quotes from the upcoming Amazon Prime documentary about Spurs' 2019/20 season 'All Or Nothing' have emerged, showing what Mourinho told Tottenham talisman Harry Kane about United.

Mourinho was appointed in November 2019 to succeed Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham, after the Argentine had enjoyed five stellar seasons growing the club. Mourinho was sacked by United in December 2018 and replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was then jobless before arriving at Spurs.

“I believe that you have a very good relationship with Mauricio, I love that. I always think, good relationship with the previous manager. Why not me?" Mourinho tells Kane in the documentary.

"I saw you training yesterday and I have no doubts that you are a leader. That is my feeling. The world looks to English football with an incredible respect but they still think that the movie stars of football belong to other places. We have to build also your status in that direction.

"My profile, I am little bit like that as a coach. My dimension is universal and my being with me I think I can help you to [improve]."

The last part of what Mourinho said reveals his belief that the Spurs squad was of a higher quality than the United sqiuad he inherited from Louis van Gaal in 2016.

Still speaking to Kane, he added: "What I don't accept, because it is my nature, to be here and win nothing., but I feel that we can because of you. You have better players than I had at Manchester United. The club has a lot [of potential] to explode."
