What Jose Mourinho said about Issa Diop shows Man United have a long interest in West Ham star

Jose Mourinho's comments about reported Manchester United target Issa Diop proves that the club may have been interested in the defender even before the Portuguese manager left Old Trafford.

Reports from Sky Sports claim that the Red Devils are ready to part with up to £45m in order to sign the 22-year-old from the Hammers this window, West Ham however are not willing to listen to any offers less than £60m.

The France U21 international played 38 times last season after signing from French club Toulouse for just £22m, a figure that is now proving to be a bargain.

After the Hammers' 3-1 win against Mourinho's Man United back in September, the manager was full of praise for Diop, which may be an indication of United's interest.

"[He had a] fantastic match," he said, as reported by UtdReport . "Congratulations to the scout that found a 21-year-old kid Diop.

"A monster who dominated in the duels."

Manchester United are in the market for a Centre-back this window and have also been linked with big money moves for both Leicester City defender Harry Maguire and Spurs' Toby Alderweireld as they look to rectify a defence that has bee leaking goals.
