What Jose Mourinho has said about Dennis Cirkin as Spurs wonderkid signs new contract

Young Tottenham full-back Dennis Cirkin has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old is a regular in the U18s squad this season, and has played a part in all four UEFA Youth League games, providing an assist in the 9-2 home victory over Red Star Belgrade back in October.

The teenager has come up through the youth system at White Hart Lane and has represented England at U18 level. He joins Malachi Fagan-Walcott who signed a new deal earlier in the week.

Like his teammmate, Cirkin confirmed the news on his Twitter account.

"Happy to have signed my first professional contract with this club," he posted. "Thankyou to everyone who made it possible."

The news comes the day that Jose Mourinho mentioned the player during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Premier League clash against Bournemouth.

The Tottenham head coach said that the young full-back would step up and train with the first team.

"I couldn't be at the game but I watched on video our youth team playing in the [UEFA Youth League], and we also have [Dennis Cirkin]," he said.

"OK, he’s 17, but he’s a kid with a lot of quality, and I look forward to bringing him to train with us, and to help his development."
