It wasn't looking very promising for Tottenham one month ago with the team 14th in the Premier League table after a nightmare start to the season.
Mauricio Pochettino lost his job as a result and he was replaced in the hotseat by Jose Mourinho.
The Lilywhites have won three of their four league fixtures under the 56-year-old and are now six points off Chelsea in fourth having trailed them by 12 points only three weeks ago.
Speaking to RMC Sport's Breaking Foot, midfielder Moussa Sissoko has opened up on the first few weeks under the new head coach and what he did to help the players who were severely lacking in confidence.
"When he arrived, the team was mentally damaged. I think that you could see that," said the Frenchman, as reported by Sport Witness.
"He tried to be positive with everyone and give them confidence. It was the main thing that needed doing.
"We had the quality. There was just a lack of confidence in a lot of players. The mental aspect was important.
"His arrival helped the entire group."
Sissoko has so far played in a couple of different roles under Mourinho in his six games in charge.
Used as part of a midfield two in the role he had been playing under Pochettino, the French international has also been played further forward on the right of a three behind Harry Kane in attack.
"It’s gone rather well. I alternate, because he knows I can play there or higher. I bend myself to the will of the manager and the group," he added when asked about his role in the team.
"He’s put stuff in place. Aurier plays much higher. We also play differently against different teams, like Manchester United, where we played with a different system.
"We change depending on the team to cause them difficulties."
