What Jose Mourinho did for Troy Parrott after his Premier League debut for Spurs against Burnley

It has been a good afternoon for Jose Mourinho and Tottenham after a 5-0 victory against Burnley in north London.

Harry Kane netted twice as Spurs recorded a thumping win against the Clarets, with Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min and Moussa Sissoko also on target for Mourinho's men.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager also gave some game time to Ryan Sessegnon, Oliver Skipp and Troy Parrott in the closing stages of the game, with Parrott making his Premier League debut for Spurs after replacing Dele Alli in the 85th minute.

And there was a touching moment at the final whistle as Mourinho went over to the 17-year-old to have a word in the teenager's ear.

But not only that, as noted by our Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold on social media, the Spurs head coach asked Parrott's team-mate Son Heung-min for the match ball, after he was in possession of the ball at the final whistle, with Mourinho then walking over and handing it to the teenager.

Speaking after the game, Mourinho said that the gesture was to mark his Premier league debut.

“It was his debut and I think it had a much bigger meaning to a kid who last week was playing against kids in the Champions League," he said at his post-match press conference.

"Today he’s playing in the Premier League at 17. Will he play against Bayern Munich? I don’t know. All I can say is Harry Kane won’t. Who plays, we’ll see.”

Parrott has been enjoying a fine season so far, having starred for Tottenham's U19 side in the UEFA Youth League, and made his international debut for Republic of Ireland last month.
