What Jorginho has said about his Chelsea future as agent again makes contract claim

Jorginho has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, but the latest comments from his agent appear to be mixed news for Chelsea supporters.

The Italy midfielder - who has been very impressive for the Azzurri so far in Euro 2020 - has just over two years remaining on his deal with the Blues.

With the uncertainty over his existing contract, the inevitable transfer rumours have flooded in and his agent, Joao Santos, has been very vocal about his client's future.

Santos, in his latest comments, has said that Jorginho intends to remain in west London until the expiry of his deal in 2023 at least, but also hinted at a possible departure.

Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, via Sport Witness, Santos said: "His goal is to honour his contract with Chelsea: to stay in London at least until the end of the contract.

"If they do not renew his contract, he would be happy to return to Italy, perhaps to Napoli."

In the past, the 29-year-old Blues star has opened up on his future and insisted he was "really happy" at the 2020/21 Champions League winners.

“Dude, I’ll tell you the truth. At the moment, how am I going to think about the future two years from now, having what I still have to play this season. Then the Euro is coming,” Jorginho told TNT Sports at the start of April.

“So, honestly, there’s no way to think ahead. In fact, I’m very happy here. I’m really happy here.

"So I don’t think about anything else either. Now, at the moment, there’s no reason to think about what will happen in two years, for example.”

The Italy international also dropped a big hint about where his future lies next season when taking to Instagram following Chelsea's Champions League final win over Manchester City last month.

The caption to the image read: "Another year together! This group is family, is team, is home! We achieved something big and living it with all of you guys made it even more special!

"Thanks guys, see you very soon for many other special moments together."

The former Napoli midfielder joined Chelsea in the summer of 2018 from the Naples-based club in a deal worth around £57million, after add-ons.

Jorginho was a key part of both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel's plans last season, where he made 45 appearances for the club in all competitions.
