What Jordan Henderson said to Gary Neville in cheeky dig after Liverpool's win

Jordan Henderson took a cheeky dig at Gary Neville following Liverpool's win at Southampton .

The substitute tapped in from close range to seal a 3-1 at St Mary's as the Reds recovered from Shane Long's early goal to go top of the table.

Naby Keita equalised before the break but Jurgen Klopp's men looked like they would have to settle for a point as the Saints stood firm.

However, late goals from Mohamed Salah and Henderson earned the visitors a vital victory as they leapfrogged Manchester City to the Premier League summit.

Henderson couldn't resist having a dig at Manchester United legend Neville at the final whistle.

Southampton 1-3 Liverpool: Five talking points as Mohamed Salah ends goal drought

The Sky Sports pundit revealed: “Jordan Henderson came over to me at the end of the game and said ‘you don’t look very happy’.

“And I said ‘I’m not Jordan’.

"I feel cold [about title race] because I’ve not got a particular favourite between either side to win the title.

“I am sat there thinking it’s an inevitability. Once they got control and hold of the game.

“I just asked five seconds before what odds Liverpool were to win the game. I’ve never felt so sure that Liverpool were going to win the game.

“It just felt like it was absolutely going to happen.

Meanwhile, Henderson stressed the importance of the remaining matches in the Premier League title race.

Speaking after Liverpool's win, Henderson told Sky Sports: "We know every game is massive for us.

"We know we've got to win every game so tonight was another big game. I thought the lads showed great character in the first half under a little bit of pressure, to come out of that and to go in 1-1 at half-time I thought was good for us.

"And then to come out and win in the second half I thought was a big performance and a big result."

On his goal, Henderson added: "It was a big goal, I haven't got in those positions often this season because I've been playing a deeper role but I've had conversations with the manager. I thought I could affect things a little bit higher up and thankfully I've been able to affect things and contribute."
