What John Terry told Virgil van Dijk after Liverpool defender's PFA Player of the Year win

Former Chelsea defender John Terry has sent Virgil van Dijk a special message after the Liverpool star scooped the PFA Players' Player of the Year award.

The Dutchman was presented with prestigious accolade on Sunday night, and becomes one of only five defenders to be named player of the season.

In a post on Instagram the five-time Premier League winner wrote: "Congratulations Virgil van Dijk and welcome to the club."

Previous winners include Norman Hunter, Colin Todd, Gary Pallister and Paul McGrath.

The 27-year-old powerhouse showed his appreciation by liking the post.

Terry's former England team-mate and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has also liked the post.

The Netherlands skipper will be looking to keep out Lionel Messi on Wednesday evening as Jurgen Klopp's side take on Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final.
