What Jermaine Jenas has said about Arsenal and Chelsea that could spell good news for Spurs

Jermaine Jenas says he feels Tottenham will be much better next season than they have been during the current campaign.

And the former Spurs midfielder reckons London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea could actually struggle to compete with Tottenham in the battle to try and catch Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League.

Tottenham have finished fourth in the top flight this season, one point behind Chelsea and one ahead of Arsenal in the final standings, while Spurs are also in the Champions League final.

As such, Jenas reckons that Spurs are well-placed to be the most likely challengers to City and Liverpool, who have finished more than 25 points ahead of their nearest rivals this season.

“On the basis of Chelsea with the embargo that they have got put upon them and possibly losing their best player, they are not going to be as strong as they were this year," Jenas said, speaking on BT Sport's Score programme on the final day of the season.

Michael Owen has a stark warning for Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs ahead of next season

Arsenal are not showing any signs of spending from what I am hearing, whereas from Tottenham’s point of view the pure fact they are in the Champions League final will attract good players and, by all accounts, Daniel Levy has said there is money to spend, so they will be much better than they were this year.

The Spurs 'masterstroke' that proved how good a manager Mauricio Pochettino is

“I fully expect Leicester, Everton and Wolves to have a right go at that top six.”
