Jan Vertonghen has claimed that the Tottenham team are "ashamed" of their 7-2 drubbing against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Leading courtesy of Son Heung-min's early strike, the Lilywhites went in 2-1 behind at the break as goals from Joshua Kimmich and Robert Lewandowski turned the game in the German's favour.
Serge Gnabry then netted a quickfire double before Harry Kane reduced the deficit from the penalty spot, with the ex-Arsenal man grabbing a further two either side of another Lewandowski strike to complete the rout.
Clearly a dark day for everyone connected with Spurs after a very disappointing start to the season, the Belgian defender opened up on the feeling inside the dressing room at the full-time whistle.
"Bad. Everyone is ashamed of this result," he said. "There's not too much I can say about this.
"I think everyone will have a bad night's sleep and probably a couple about this.
"It's good that the next game is already in a couple of days and we have to get back together, and I feel like the group is together, to overcome this defeat.
"This is obviously extremely disappointing for all of us."
Spurs return to Premier League action on Saturday with a lunchtime game away at Brighton & Hove Albion as they look to put things right.
Vertonghen has called on the supporters to stick with the team as they try and get rid of the feeling from the Bayern hammering.
"Keep supporting us," he added. "I believe this team is there and can overcome these situations.
"For me, this is an incident, a bad incident. But this group is together, we have to stay together to turn this around.
"We have the next game on Saturday, which will be a good moment to get rid of, not 100 per cent, but a bit of this feeling."
