What Jamie Carragher said about Liverpool winning the title will rile some Spurs fans

There was a feeling among football fans last season that the neutrals would have preferred Liverpool to have won the Premier League over Manchester City.

That was not necessarily a feeling held by supporters of the big teams though.

There can be little doubt that the Reds played some of the best football last season, alongside Man City, who eventually went on to win the league, by a single point.

But a tweet urging every other Premier League team to join forces to stop Liverpool winning the title "for the sake of the whole of mankind" went viral.

It was a belief held by a number of football fans, with opinion really split down the middle over whether or not it would be good for the Reds to win the league.

It certainly wasn't like in 2016 when everyone bar the Tottenham supporters wanted Leicester to do the impossible and scoop the Premier League crown.

And Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said what all of those fans will agree with during Sky Sports' analysis of the Reds' 3-0 win over Burnley on Sunday.

He said: "I think we have the two best teams in Europe.

"In some ways, and maybe people who don't support Liverpool will not agree with what I'm going to say right now, but in some ways Liverpool are that good a side, they probably deserve a title.

"But the other best team in Europe are in the same league that could stop them and I think that would be unfortunate for Jurgen Klopp and this team, because it is that good a side."

It's certainly something that many fans of our London teams would attest to - that they don't agree with Carragher's view!
