What James Maddison has previously said about Mesut Ozil that will delight Arsenal supporters

James Maddison's stunning goal has given Leicester City a win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

And one Arsenal fan in particular is very happy.

Maddison is one of the most sought after players in England right now and The Times  have recently claimed he is top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's wish list and Manchester United are ready to launch a £60million bid next summer.

The midfielder has made no secret of the fact that he would like to play at an even higher level.

After being called up to Gareth Southgate's most recent England squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers, the Foxes midfielder said: "I want to play at the highest level my ability will allow me to.

"I like to think I’ve my head screwed on with the transfers I’ve made. I’ve played League One, in Scotland, the Championship and the Premier League. I worked my way up."

But would Maddison be open to the possibility of swapping the King Power Stadium for the Emirates Stadium?

Well, following a tweet about Mesut Ozil last year, all seems possible.

On March 8, 2018 he tweeted: "Mesut Ozil is a special special footballer."

To which an Arsenal fan dug up following Maddison's winner against Spurs and had a simple message.

"Follow in his footsteps lad."

With that said, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers refused to rule out a transfer for Maddison in the future.

"In a player’s career, there will always be that temptation," he said as reported to  Leicester Live .

"This is a club that doesn’t want to sell its best players, but of course, if there’s a valuation that is met, which meets what the club perceive the player to be worth, then there will be a discussion.

"But it’s not something we want to invite. James is very much a talented player for us.He still has lots of improvements to make as a young player.

"He, along with a number of young players, we want to keep here.

"But of course, I'm a realist as well.

"I understand how the market works. But it’s not something we would be looking to entertain."
