What Jack Wilshere did to Bukayo Saka as midfielder trains with Arsenal first team at London Colney

Jack Wilshere once again trained with the Arsenal first team ahead of their Premier League clash against Southampton on Saturday.

The 29-year-old is currently training with the Gunners after being made a free agent in the summer, and has also been taking on some coaching duties among the youth teams.

Wilshere has started his coaching badges and is learning his trade alongside the talented coaching set-up at London Colney, including Under-23s coach Kevin Betsy who has vast experience within the England youth set up.

On Friday morning, Wilshere was spotted putting in a tackle on his compatriot Bukayo Saka and it's understood that the former West Ham man has been taking part in regular sessions with the first team at Colney.

Despite being involved with the first team, football.london has been told that there have been no conversations over offering Wilshere a short-term deal with the club.

While speaking to BBC Sport, Wilshere was asked about the chances of retiring from football earlier than expected.

He replied: "I have to think about it."

Before adding: "That is why I am doing the coaching. I have been forced into doing it a little bit but I am grateful for the opportunity."

"I don't care what people say or write or what they say on social media," he said. "I am an honest guy. If I didn't think I could, I would be the first to say 'enough, I am going to do something else'.

"But I am almost at the point where I think something different, abroad, might be beneficial to me."

Wilshere spoke to talkSPORT towards the end of October and referenced America as a possible destination for his next club.

“I’d like to go abroad actually,” he said. “Obviously I would like to play in the Premier League as well. But I would also like to play abroad.

“I’m training with Arsenal ‘til the end of January, the MLS start their pre-season in January."

The former PFA Young Player of the year played 14 times for Bournemouth in the Championship a couple of a seasons ago.
