What it's really like to live the high life on La Sagesse - the exclusive Jesmond estate

Some of the houses go for more than £1m.

And the windows alone on La Sagesse's posh pads are bigger than some Tyneside homes.

So it will come as no surprise that those living in the exclusive Jesmond estate are happy with their lot.

"It's nice and quiet," said one resident.

"And the homes are very nice."

Very nice could be the understatement of the year.

There are 48 homes dotted across the picturesque estate, built on the site of the £3,000-a-term Catholic school which previously stood here.

Where is YOUR millionaires' row? The North East's most expensive streets revealed

In fact, signs for the school still exist at the estate's sole entrance for vehicles.

Getting into the estate can be quite tricky, according to one local, who said: "I don't think the postcode brings it up on Google Maps".

Once you arrive, you are met with stunning grounds, perfectly cut grass, huge trees - and even bigger properties.

Outside most of the homes are top of the range cars, while there is private parking for those living in the flats.

There are a mix of three and five-bedroom homes on the estate - the biggest of which are detached and can be bought for more than £1m.

But even to buy the cheapest house would cost you a small fortune.

When it was initially erected, a luxurious two-bedroom duplex apartment - with an en-suite and under floor heating, was listed for £440,000.

One local said the price means the estate - up the hill from Jesmond Dene House - attracts a certain sort of buyer.

"People around here like privacy and to keep themselves to themselves," they state.

"But it is a good place to live, you have fantastic access to the Metro and town."
