From an outsider's perspective, fashion week appears like a sparkling, glamorous affair, filled with star-studded parties and designer clothes.
For most models, it's just another day of work.
Having conquered the catwalks of New York, new British talent are touching down in the capital for London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020. And with fashion month now in full swing, it sometimes begs the question: what does being a model during fashion week actually entail?
Sure, we all see the paparazzi, flawless make-up and extremely high heels. But contrary to the aspirational images on our Instagram feeds, fashion week isn't all glitz and glamour.
We've teamed up with Models1, the British modelling agency, to ask five up-and-coming models from their ‘Talent’, ‘New Faces’ and ‘Curve’ divisions what fashion week is like IRL (in real life) - from how they get around, to what they get up to and how they survive their busy schedules.
For catwalk models, such as Andrea Huther, "hectic" and "chaotic" are just a few words used to describe the five-day event. Meanwhile, influencer Betty Bachz adds the adjective "hangry" into the mix.
Even models who don't hit the catwalk find fashion week an exciting time. After all, who would turn down the chance to attend a free party or two?
Charlie Newman, Emma Laird and Emma Breschi all gave fashion parties a big thumbs up, explaining that they are a good excuse to dress up and have fun with friends.
So it seems fashion week is a jam-packed few days for models both on and off duty - although all described the marathon of shows and parties as a lot of "fun".
