The national health service is one of the UK’s proudest achievements, yet it finds itself under unprecedented pressure.

Barely a day goes by without the NHS hitting the headlines, and its fortunes are followed by politicians and the public alike.

As part of the Guardian’s in depth coverage of the health service, we’d like to hear first hand accounts of what’s it’s like to work in the NHS. Please share your experiences with us, whatever your role.

Whether you work for a GP surgery, hospital or in the community; whether you’re a doctor, nurse or midwife, or work as a porter, cleaner, manager or administrator, we’d like to hear about the best and worst aspects of your job.

Fill in the form below to tell us about why you chose to work in healthcare – and what keeps you in your job.
