What is wrong with Ryan Tubridy? RTE update on illness as Miriam O'Callaghan hosts the Late Late Show

For those who haven't seen the news - you may be wondering why Miriam O'Callaghan is hosting The Late Late Show this Friday night.

The experienced RTE presenter was drafted in on Friday morning with usual host Ryan Tubridy unable to take-up his usual duties.

Instead Miriam O'Callaghan is the first female presenter of RTE's flagship show in its entire history.

Why isn't Ryan Tubridy hosting The Late Late Show?

Ryan Tubridy has confirmed he tested positive for the coronavirus and is currently recovering from mild symptoms.

Miriam O'Callaghan steps in

Miriam said: "I'm delighted to be able to step in tonight and present the Late Late Show. We have to keep the show on the road. Best wishes to Ryan."

The RTE presenter confirmed that this is in fact the very first time a woman has ever presented the world's longest running chat show.

What time is the show on?

The Late Late Show will air tonight at the usual time of  9:35pm on RTÉ One.

Who are the guests?

Global superstar Hozier, footballer Lee Duffy who has been struck down with Covid-19, Brendan O'Carroll and wife Jennifer Gibney, rugby legend Brian O'Driscoll and legendary GAA commentator Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh will all feature on the show.
