What is Wordle? All you need to know about the new brain game taking Ireland by storm

If you've been flicking through social media a lot in recent days, you'll have seen quite a few people speaking about Wordle.

Usually, it's accompanied by a row of squares and then a ranking out of six, for example.

Thousands of people are playing the simple brain game, and it's going particularly viral on Twitter.

If you've been left confused by all the green and yellow boxes then fear not, because we've put a handy explainer together.

What is Wordle?

Wordle is a quick and easy brain teaser.

How do I play Wordle?

It's rather simple and will be a throwback for those who can remember the old Mastermind game.

You have six guesses to figure out a five-letter word.

The computer then tells you which letter you have guessed correctly, and if they are in the right place.

There's only one word to guess per day.

If the letter turns green, you have it in the right space.

If it's yellow, you have the right letter but in the wrong space.

If it's neither green nor yellow, you have no letters correct.

The game is dividing people though.
