What is Travel Tuesday? Best day to buy flights after Black Friday hype

It's the season for deals, with Black Friday on November 24 and continuing throughout that weekend until Cyber Monday on November 27.

The savings won't stop there, either, with Travel Tuesday following on November 28.

This fairly recent deal phenomenon has been generally welcomed by the travel industry. Big names such as the flight booking site Hopper, Virgin Voyages, and Hyatt Hotels are all taking part in the event.

Hopper predicts that several airlines will advertise discounted flights in 2023, including Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand, Fiji Airways, French bee, and Singapore Airlines.

Some of the most high-profile destinations expected to be available for at reduced prices include the Bahamas, Bali, Las Vegas, London, Miami, Paris, and Tokyo. Flying to many of these destinations can easily cost in the thousands when travelling from London, so any deals will be very welcome.

Once you're at your location, Travel Tuesday can also help you out, with anticipated deals on hotels set to be offered.

Virgin Hotels plans to offer 30 per cent off hotel bookings made between now and the end of the year. Furthermore, 5 per cent of revenue from all direct bookings on Travel Tuesday will be donated to Feeding America and Feeding Britain to help fight hunger and food insecurity.

With more than 1,300 hotels and all-inclusive properties in 76 countries across six continents, Hyatt is offering 20 per cent off stays booked before December 5. This includes travel that takes place only by April 30 at participating hotels in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, so you'll need to plan a trip fast.

Elsewhere, Richard Branson’s adults-only cruise line, Virgin Voyages, is also offering up to 30 per cent off all trips booked before the end of November.

You can also enjoy up to $5,400 (£4,342) off bookings made before December 5 at Oceania Cruises.
