The latest census has revealed just how many people live in Liverpool.
A city with a vast history and a well-known port that was essential for attaining its diverse population, it is home to a wide range of people who have fallen in love with what it has to offer.
As of 2021, Liverpool is the second most densely populated of the North West's 39 local authority areas, with around 31 people living on each football pitch-sized area of land, says the 2021 Census.

That year, Liverpool was also ranked tenth for total population out of 309 local authority areas in England.
What is the current population?
It is believed that Liverpool's estimated population is 500,500 people, according to data from Liverpool City Council as of March 31, 2022.
These numbers show that Liverpool's population has increased by 7.5%, since ten years ago, which is higher than the United Kingdom's average of 6%. It is believed that by 2030, the city predicts that the population may increase to around 531,000.
In Liverpool, the data reported that there were 87,500 people aged zero to 15, 339,100 people aged 16 to 64., and 73,000 people aged 65 and over.
Although the city's most populated ethnicity is White British at 84.8%, it is still home to a wide range of backgrounds, including Asian/Asian British [4.2%], Mixed ethnicity [2.5%], Black/African/Caribbean/Black British [2.6%], and White Irish [1.4%].
How big is Liverpool?
The city of Liverpool is exactly 111.8 km², or just over 43 square miles, and is 5th largest metropolitan area in the UK.
According to worldpopulationreview.com, the city has a population density of 10,070 people per square mile [3,889/sq km].
This density comes from the growing number of residents living in a total surface area of 43.2 square miles.
