The sound happens every time you swipe down, and many social media users have taken to the platform to share their annoyance.
Twitter has been rolling out this new update for the last few weeks, and it has now come to all users, whether you’ve selected it as an option, or not.
The only way you won’t hear the refresh noise is if your smartphone is on silent, or vibrate - however, if you have the sound on you will hear it, unless you manually disable the option.
Here’s everything you need to know about how to disable the “chirping” sound.
How to turn off Twitter’s new refresh sound
- Open the Twitter app.
- Select your profile picture (in the top-left corner).
- Scroll down and select “Settings and privacy” in the side menu.
- Scroll down and select “Accessibility, display, and languages.”
- Select “Display and sound.”
- Under the “Sound” section, turn off the “Sound effects” option.
By following these steps, you’ll be able to turn off the “chirping” sound, and use Twitter without the annoying sounds!
