What is the Grand National 2019 distance?

The Grand National is the annual race that takes place at Aintree and has become widely viewed as the world's greatest steeple chase.

Watched by up to 600 million people across the globe, many jockeys who win the prestigious event go down in the history books.

It is often thought to be 'anyone's' race as the challenging course can test even the most athletic of horses.

And with 30 fences to jump over two laps, the Grand National can put the runners and riders' stamina on trial.

What is the Grand National distance?

Though it may seem that it is all over in the blink of an eye, the distance the horses have to cover is four miles and 514 yards - 6.907km.

The most recent race in 2018, was won by Tiger Roll his jockey Davy Russell who was trained by Gordon Elliott.

With a prize fund of one million pounds, many will be trying to win the converted Randox Health trophy this year.
