What is Sky Glass TV? How much the new set that spells end for dishes will cost

Sky Glass - the telecommunications company's new all-in-one television set that spells the end of satellite dishes and TV boxes - launches today.

Sky became the UK's first satellite TV service in 1989 but now, in a move that will see a welcome decluttering of the cabinets and roofs of Britain, the necessity for large external dishes is coming to an end.

Instead, Sky is hoping Brits will be replacing them with their new broadband-fed service.

It is claimed Sky Glass will be the first carbon neutral TV, is free from single use plastic and comes in all-recyclable packaging.

Described as the sole on-stop-shop with "with Sky and all your favourite apps inside", it will be available in either a single upfront purchase or through a monthly rate.

Below you'll find everything we know about the latest release from the Rupert Murdoch -owned company, including costs and features.

How much will Sky Glass cost?

Three TV sizes are available for customers to choose from: 43 inch, 55 inch and 65 inch, with each priced accordingly, meaning that, unsurprisingly, if you want the bigger screen its going to come with the bigger bill attached.

Five colours are available: Ocean Blue, Ceramic White, Racing Green, Dusky Pink, or Anthracite Black and all will come with a matching remote dependent on the colour you choose.

All sizes of the new set will feature a 4k Ultra HD Quantum Dot screen for an immaculate high quality picture. It will also feature a 10-bit HDR screen that supports HLG, HDR10 and Dolby Vision that will provide realistic, vibrant colour to your shows. It also comes with three HDMI ports.

Sadly, the cost of the TV does not also include the cost of a Sky TV package, meaning you'll need to purchase both the hardware and the access to the Sky channels.

The costs of the three different sizes and their different payment options are:

43" Sky Glass TVOutright : £649. Monthly : £13 per month (£10 upfront fee) for 48 months, or £26 per month (£20 upfront fee) for 24-months.

55" Sky GlassUpfront : £849. Monthly : £17 per month (£10 upfront fee) for 48 months, or £34 per month (£20 upfront fee)for 24 months.

65" Sky GlassUpfront : £1,049. Monthly: £21 (£10 upfront fee) for 48 months, or £42 per month (£20 upfront fee) for 24 months.

It's the beginning of the end for the UK's relationship with external satellite dishes (WENN.com)

Sky also offer mixed packages that give buys the option to pick up both the TV and Sky's services at once. Coming in cheapest is a 43 inch set with the £26 per month Sky Ultimate (which includes Netflix ) for £39 excluding upfront fees.

Sky do note that purchases will be subject to credit checks.
