What is Nate Diaz’s legacy? His fellow fighters give their takes before UFC 279

Nate Diaz headlines UFC 279 on Saturday in what is expected to be his final fight in the UFC.

The often polarizing Diaz (20-13 MMA, 15-11 UFC) takes on Khamzat Chimaev (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It’s the final fight on his contract. He’s a huge underdog against Chimaev, who is a 14-1 favorite at Tipico Sportsbook.

In recent months – nay, years, even – Diaz has had plenty of public gripes with the UFC, but it’s unquestionable the fan favorite will have masses follow him no matter where he winds up after Saturday, even if it’s back in the UFC, as unlikely as that seems.

There are plenty of memorable moments on Diaz’s resume, from his “Ultimate Fighter” Season 5 win to his short-notice upset of Conor McGregor in 2016. But what, ultimately, will be the legacy for the bad boy from Stockton, Calif.?

To find out, we asked the experts: his fellow fighters. Take a look at the video above to hear what they have to say about the 37-year-old Diaz after more than 15 years in the UFC.
