What is martial law as Russia invades Ukraine

Martial law in Ukraine has been imposed from 5.30am on February 24 for a period of 30 days.

Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine following escalating tensions over the last few weeks and months over Ukraine’s relationship to NATO and Western powers.
