What is Emma Raducanu’s new world ranking and when will she next compete?

Bromley teenager Emma Raducanu made history as she defeated fellow teen Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 to become the women’s singles US Open champion at Flushing Meadows on Saturday.

In what was only her second major event following her last-16 appearance at Wimbledon 2021, Raducanu became the first qualifier in history to win a Grand Slam tennis tournament, as well as the first British woman to win one in 44 years.

The 18-year-old rising star appeared to breeze through the tournament, winning all 10 of her qualifying and main-draw matches without dropping a single set.

Raducanu was ranked 345th in the world at the start of 2021, but her confident performances in both Wimbledon and the US Open have seen her ranking soar.

So what is Emma Raducanu’s new world ranking and when is the tennis star’s next tournament? Here’s what you need to know.

What is Emma Raducanu’s new world ranking?

Emma Raducanu was world No. 338 in the first round of Wimbledon, before shooting up to No. 179 following her wins against Vitalia Diatchenko, Marketa Vondrousova and Sorana Cirstea in the first three rounds of the tournament.

After retiring from her fourth-round match against Ajla Tomljanovic earlier due to breathing difficulties, Raducanu entered the US Open as a qualifier, sailing through the first three qualifying matches to join the main draw.

She then beat experienced opponents including home favourite Shelby Rogers, Switzerland’s 11th seed Belinda Bencic and Greek 17th seed Maria Sakkari to reach the weekend’s all-teenage final.

Following her September 11 victory at New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium, the US Open tweeted that Raducanu’s new Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) ranking would be No. 23.

When is Emma Raducanu’s next tennis tournament?

Now that she is ranked firmly in the top 30, fans can expect to see a lot more of Raducanu in upcoming major tournaments.

Currently, she is next scheduled to appear in the qualifying rounds of the WTA’s next Chicago event at the end of September.
