What is Easter weekend Irish weather forecast? Met Eireann predicts Ireland will be hotter than Tenerife

Parts of Ireland will bask in 21C temperatures on Saturday in what will be the warmest weekend of the year so far.

A miserable Monday saw 21 counties hit with weather warnings, but it looks as though the country will experience more summer-like conditions over the Easter weekend.

Met Eireann is forecasting temperatures of up to 20C on Good Friday.

And Saturday will be even warmer - making Ireland hotter than Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

Good Friday

Friday is expected to be dry and sunny with highest temperatures ranging between 15C and 20C.

A spokesperson said: "Good Friday will be dry with sunny spells. It will be warm with light variable breezes and highest temperatures of 15C to 20C."

"Highest temperatures of 14C to 17C in the west and northwest, but between 18 and 21 degrees for the rest of the country with light breezes.

"On Saturday night, rain and drizzle will move down over Connacht and Ulster."

Easter Sunday

It will get colder on Easter Sunday following on from a drizzly Saturday night, with highest temperatures ranging from 12C to 17C.

"Easter Sunday will be mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle.

"It will be cooler also with highest temperatures ranging from 12C in the northwest to 17 degrees in the southeast and light to moderate southwest breezes."

Easter Monday

Despite the couple of days of sunshine, temperatures are to drop on Easter Monday as the unsettled weather resumes.

A spokesperson added: "At the moment, it looks like our weather will become much colder and unsettled from Easter Monday onwards with rain or showers at times and with temperatures dropping back to around 10 or 11 degrees."
